Week1 B: Social Media Use Today
My
Experience with Social Media
I started
using social media when I was 10 years old and got my first phone. Back then,
my favorite platforms were YouTube and Facebook. However, as time has passed,
my interests and needs have changed. Now, at 25 years old, I work and study,
which means I no longer have as much time to watch series, movies, or long
YouTube videos. Instead, I find TikTok and WhatsApp more suitable for my
current lifestyle.
In my
personal life, I mainly use social media to stay in touch with my friends and
family. WhatsApp is my preferred platform for sending and receiving messages
quickly and easily. Additionally, TikTok has become a source of entertainment
and information. I like it because the videos are short, fun, and informative.
From time to time, I also share messages of encouragement on my profiles for
those who need it.
Although I
don't currently use social media for commercial purposes, I'm considering
opening a TikTok account to teach how to create renders of gardens and houses.
Over the years, I have found opportunities and benefits through social media,
especially related to my education at MiraCosta College. Social media is a very
useful tool that connects us with the world and keeps us informed about what is
happening around us.
However, I
also recognize that social media has its drawbacks. While it allows us to
access a large amount of information, not all of it is reliable. Often, false
or misleading news is spread, which can have a negative impact. It's important
to use this tool responsibly and be aware of what we share on our networks.
My advice
for those who are starting to use social media is to be responsible and careful
with what they publish. Not everyone is empathetic in the online world, so it's
essential to teach our children to be polite and respectful. Additionally, it's
important to remember that education begins at home. We should not let the
quest for followers lead us to irresponsible behavior, as this can have short
and long-term consequences.
