Week 8 Part A: Your Instagram Hashtag Use
How I Used Hashtags to Enhance My Social Media Posts
In my recent Instagram exercise, I gained valuable insights into the strategic use of hashtags. In this blog, I’ll share how I chose and used them, along with the results of my efforts.
Hashtags I Used
Some of the hashtags I included were:
#LandscapeDesign and #NatureInspired: Popular among communities interested in design and nature.
#MinimalistGarden and #AxonometricDesign: More specific to my niche of minimalist garden design and technical visualizations.
#GardenSpaces: A unique hashtag to highlight peaceful spaces designed for connection with nature.
How I Found These Hashtags
I used a few methods to select my hashtags:
Instagram Search: I explored the platform to identify hashtags that were relevant and trending within my community.
Inspiration from Similar Accounts: I analyzed other garden and nature design accounts to spot trends.
Personal Creativity: I crafted hashtags that represent my brand and philosophy, such as #PuntoVerdeDesign.
Use of Business-Specific Hashtags
Yes, I created and used personalized hashtags like #PuntoVerdeDesign to highlight my unique approach to designing harmonious gardens. These helped build a consistent brand identity and increase engagement.
Post Timing
I published my posts in the late afternoon, between 5 and 7 p.m., as my analysis showed this was when my audience was most active. My findings included:
Effective Days: Weekdays, especially Wednesday and Thursday, when people look for inspiration or practical ideas.
Reasoning: These times capture an audience that’s unwinding after work.
What I Learned
This exercise taught me several things:
Combining popular hashtags with niche-specific ones increased my posts' visibility.
Posting at strategic times boosted audience interaction.
Creating a unique hashtag is not only fun but also effective for branding.
Additionally, by observing and commenting on my group members’ posts, I gained new ideas on how to further refine my hashtag strategy and adapt it to different contexts.
